Came in 10 days. The fan is driven by a motor, and the current is generated by a heat pad in the base. There is little sound when working, it's quiet enough not to bother me. I placed it on the side of the stove just in case not to overheat it. Of course it is not powerful but it should help move some air in the room.

fan is kind of small and doesn't perform like i thought it would,

i would buy another but false or misleading descriptions are getting hectic to sift thru plus the vast price differences from store to store gets outrageous
